REGOSPEL: REALIZED

If Jesus Wrote a Letter

I want you. Not your self willed efforts. Not your cleaned up version, hoping for acceptance. Not your promises to do better, again and again.

I want you, your thoughts, your fears, your failures, your treasures, your questions, your past, your present, your future. All of you.

You were never made to pray to Me as if I were far away. You were made to walk with Me, know Me, and share in My life, not as a servant hidden in the shadows, but as My friend, My companion, and My beloved. The servant doesn’t know what his master is doing, but I have called you friends. Everything the Father told me, I’ve shared with you. (John 15:15). I call you “philos,” friend. It means someone I love dearly. Someone I enjoy. Someone I draw close to and keep close. That’s how I see you. That’s how it’s always meant to be between us.

Don’t believe any voice that tells you to earn your way to Me, that if you just cleaned up, did better, prayed harder, read longer, fasted more, witnessed more, or attended enough church, I’d finally be pleased. That’s the voice of a servant trying to impress a master. But I came for so much more than behavior modification.

Because I didn’t lay down. My life to manage your efforts. I lay down. My life to bring My life is for you so that we could bring you into our life. That’s why nothing can ever separate us again.

There is no such thing as being on the outside looking in anymore. You belong with Me and in Me. That’s not a sentimental idea; it’s the center of reality. It’s what I asked the Father for: “I want them with Me where I am… that they may be one with Us… just as You are in Me and I am in You, that they may also be in Us.” (John 17).

I didn’t come to build you a better version of your life. I came to bring you into Mine. Yes, my wisdom will lead you into freedom, healing, and wholeness, but suffering still exists in a fallen world. Through all of it, I remain with you. I enjoy walking through it with you because I want you to know me. Know me, not just what I can give you.

I want to sit with you and eat with you. And remember, I serve you. Just as you don’t wash yourself, I wash you. Your “self” was cleansed at your new birth, and now I keep washing your feet, your thoughts, and your beliefs as you walk through this life. I’m cleaning away the lies, renewing your mind, and growing you up into my thoughts.

I want you to walk with Me, not run yourself into the ground for Me. Instead of putting the measuring stick up to your performance, put it up to mine. I am the measuring stick, and I hit the mark. If you think I’m keeping score, I’m not. If you think I need your strength, your willpower, or your push-through, I don’t. I am now your strength. I will carry you.

What I want is you, right here with me, resting. The only striving you need to do is to strive to enter. My rest. Isn’t that wonderful? You are so very okay right now. Let go of every voice that shames, pressures, and drains you. That’s not from me.

I will never turn away. I love you more than Satan hates you. More than sin wants to destroy you. More than you love or hate yourself. Even when you can’t believe that, it’s still true.

This is where righteousness begins, not in perfection, but in union. You don’t become right by doing right. You become right by being mine. You’re not a project. You’re not a number. You’re not a disappointment. You are my treasure. You are the one I made to be with me.

I’m not offering you a better life apart from me. I am offering you myself. I am your peace, not just the giver of it. I am your truth, not just a speaker of it. I am your righteousness, not just a standard. I am the way, not a map you follow, but the person who is in you and walks with you.

With All My Love,
Jesus
